Favia Coombsville Trio

To celebrate and share our enthusiasm for this unique appellation, we are excited to offer a small but lovely selection of our favorite wines from Coombsville:

1 bottle 2018 Favia CARBONE Chardonnay, 750mL
1 bottle 2016 Favia CERRO SUR Red Wine, 750mL
1 bottle 2016 Favia Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville, 750mL

First in the trio is our 2018 CARBONE Chardonnay, envisioning a style that takes us back in time, and leans us toward our bright future. For over three decades, these vines have been producing energetic, fresh, vibrant fruit beside our historic winery. The resulting wine is equally compelling. Barrel fermented, aged sur lie but without malolactic fermentation, it proudly showcases the potential of white wine in this quiet corner of the Valley.

Second is the 2016 CERRO SUR, a blend of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon from Rancho Chimiles. The wine most reflective of our sense of place, from one of the most majestic sites to grow Cabernet Franc, our favorite varietal. Planted nearly 40 years ago, the property is rich with California history, and for a time was owned by Nathan Coombs, founder of the city of Napa and namesake of Coombsville. High in the mountains above the appellation, it has been the source of this Favia wine for more than 16 vintages. This wine, more than any other, reminds us of home.

Third in the lineup is our 2016 Favia Cabernet Sauvignon - Coombsville, Napa Valley, a singular expression of Cabernet Sauvignon from this very special appellation. Replete with all of the power and concentration that is expected of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from great vineyard sites, this wine showcases all the attributes that make Coombsville special: a savory profile, precise tannic structure and a vein of acidity that keeps the wine focused and expressive. This wine has become a favorite of visitors to the winery and was recently featured in the “Top 100 Wines of 2019” by the Wine Spectator as a true archetype of Coombsville.
